What are the best entrepreneurship summer programs for teens?

Updated November 2026

The best entrepreneurship summer programs for teens include startup accelerators like LaunchX, university courses like Babson Academy Summer Study, Wharton Global Youth, and USC Pre-College, and Barnard's Athena Summer Innovation Institute. They run two to five weeks. Teens who want to build past August can attend Founders School, a full-time four-year program.

How teen entrepreneurship summer programs work

Most summer entrepreneurship programs for teenagers fall into two buckets: independent startup accelerators where teams build a product prototype, and university pre-college courses that teach business fundamentals on a college campus or online.

A summer session usually runs two to five weeks between June and August. In that window, your teenager typically meets a small team, interviews potential users, builds a mock-up or basic prototype, and pitches to a panel of instructors or judges on the final day.

Some university programs, such as Babson Academy Summer Study and USC Pre-College Exploring Entrepreneurship, award college credit on an official transcript. Others, such as Wharton Global Youth Essentials of Entrepreneurship and Barnard's Athena Summer Innovation Institute, focus on noncredit workshops, venture design, and campus life.

Summer program or full-time high school?

A summer program is a low-risk way for your teen to test whether they enjoy talking to customers, working with a team, and pitching a product. In two to five weeks, they can try the startup process without changing high schools.

If your teen already wants to build a real company, a summer session ends right when the work gets serious. Founders School is a full-time four-year program, powered by Alpha School, where students finish core academics in about 3 hours a day, usually by 11 a.m., using 3-Hour Learning with AI tutors. Every afternoon is dedicated to building real businesses with real customers.

Freshman year is Founder Bootcamp: 40 weeks across five 8-week sessions (Sell, Build, Validate, Grow, Scale) with 30+ rapid validation cycles. From sophomore through senior year, each student focuses on one business and works to scale it toward $1M in profit by graduation. Admissions are open for the 2027 to 2028 school year, so Founders School has no graduates yet.

Every student works with a mentor who is a working entrepreneur, and students keep their IP and equity. The diploma is accredited, through our school in Texas.
