Senior Short-Form Video Editor
Founders School is hiring an exceptional short-form editor to turn daily classroom footage into compelling videos for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.
Founders School combines high school academics with hands-on entrepreneurship, giving students the opportunity to build real businesses while learning from experienced founders and operators.
You’ll help bring that experience to a wider audience: the lessons, experiments, setbacks, breakthroughs, and people behind it. You’ll work directly with our Head of Media, who is regularly filming in the classroom and leading our content efforts.
We want an editor with the judgment to find a great story in raw footage and the skill to make people watch it.
What you’ll own
Review raw footage and independently identify the strongest moments, stories, and useful takeaways.
Develop hooks, select clips, and structure each video around a clear idea and satisfying payoff.
Produce approximately five finished short-form videos per week, our current publishing cadence.
Handle pacing, captions, sound, music, basic color correction, and platform-appropriate framing and exports.
Work closely with Head of Media on direction and feedback, turn revisions around quickly, and deliver polished final edits.
Bring ideas for recurring formats and use audience feedback and available performance data to improve future videos.
Keep footage, project files, and versions organized so collaboration stays fast.
The creative bar
Our references include Ryan Trahan, Iman Gadzhi, and Alex Hormozi: strong hooks, clear ideas, deliberate pacing, and polished execution. Our content blends education, documentary, and vlog storytelling.
You should know when a quick cut strengthens a moment, when context matters, and when to let something breathe. Every edit should make the story clearer and more engaging while preserving what actually happened.
Who you are
You have a portfolio of excellent short-form work, ideally in education, entrepreneurship, creator content, or documentary storytelling.
You can turn unstructured footage into a finished video with a strong opening, clear progression, and a reason to keep watching.
You understand spoken English, nuance, and storytelling well enough to make creative decisions independently.
You consistently deliver strong work at speed and take feedback well.
You communicate clearly, respond promptly during agreed working hours, and flag blockers before they affect delivery.
You can manage your own workflow and deadlines without repeated follow-up.
Motion graphics and text animation are a plus, but are not required.
How we’ll work together
This is an ongoing contractor opportunity, open to candidates anywhere in the world. We strongly prefer someone seeking a full-time commitment who can make Founders School their primary professional focus.
You’ll need reliable daily overlap with our Head of Media's working hours, availability for quick creative discussions, and the capacity to handle timely revisions. We’ll agree on the working schedule and turnaround expectations together.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete an editing test. We’ll evaluate storytelling, craft, speed, communication, and how you incorporate feedback.
